Firestopping services we offer
Middlesex Firestopping is a third-party accredited contractor that specialises in providing passive fire protection to all types of buildings. Middlesex Firestopping offer a range of passive fire protection services, including:
Penetrations and linear gap seals
|
Penetration and linear gap seals are a fire protection system made of various components used to seal openings and joints in fire-resistance rated walls or floor assemblies. Service penetration firestop seals are designed to maintain the fire resistance of a building element or section (like a wall or floor) where services such as cables, pipes or ventilation ducts pass through them.
|
Due to the variety of building materials and the types of penetrations that can be required, there is a wide choice of solutions for sealing around these service penetrations. The team at Middlesex Firestopping can ensure that your building is fire compliant in line with the current fire safety regulations. Read more about penetrations and linear gap seals
Firestop Cavity Barriers
|
A firestop cavity barrier is a specialist fire-stopping material which is fitted within building cavities. This could be built-in horizontally at each floor, and / or vertically at each fire compartment wall. This firestopping method is an efficient way to stop the spreading of fire and smoke through walls and floors. Using cavity barriers will ensure that any domestic or commercial building is a safer building to live or work in.

Intumescent Steel Coatings
|
An intumescent coating is a specialist firestop paint-like material which is inert at low temperatures – under 200 ◦C – but reacts with heat. Intumescent paints and coatings can sometimes be referred to as fire retardant paints or fire-resistant paints for steel. Intumescent coatings provide an appearance similar to that of a paint finish. As the temperature rises during a fire event, the intumescent coating swells and forms a char layer that covers and protects the steels that are coated.
|
The staff at Middlesex Firestopping can help you get the level of protection you require four structural steel beams and can guide you through any passive fire protection elements for your project.

Fire Doors
|
Fire doors play a significant role in the fire safety and protection of all buildings. It is important that fire doors are installed, inspected and maintained in order to ensure compliance. Failure to do so can place property and lives at risks.
A fire door is a door with a fire-resistance rating. These are used as part of a passive fire protection system, in order to reduce the spread |
of fire and smoke between separate fire compartments of a building. Middlesex Firestopping can advise clients undergoing building works on the fire door installation options, or can upgrade fire doors and their fixtures, following a Fire Risk Assessment.

Fire Risk Assessment Compliance
Under the Fire Safety Order, the responsible person for the building must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan. When your building undergoes any significant changes, a new Fire Risk Assessment would be advisable. If you find that there are passive fire protection elements required, Middlesex Firestopping can help any company that needs work to be undertaken following a Fire Risk Assessment.
